U.S. Special Forces Handbook

May 27, 2012

The essential guide to the operations of the Green Berets, America's most versatile and fascinating soldiers.

This handbook reveals the techniques and tactics that make the U.S. Army Special Forces some of the most elite and highly skilled soldiers in the world. Trained to succeed in specialized operations such as reconnaissance, unconventional warfare, and counter-terrorism, these soldiers undergo a rigorous selection process and operate under the principles of self-sufficiency, stealth, speed, and teamwork. Here readers will discover how guerrilla forces differ from special forces and how unconventional warfare relates to both; how to conduct a raid; how to improvise explosive devices; and how special forces carry out air operations. 220 black-and-white illustrations

The human side of a royal marine commando. We all know what they do, they fight for our country and keep us safe but we never know why they chose that career or what they are like as people. Muslim extremist supporters war of words on youtube

May 24, 2012
MY THOUGHTS - I have been viewing the video reports on YouTube about the brave troops killed and wounded. After reading some comments, I have quickly realized just how low some of the YouTube members are with cowardly disgusting comments about the dead. These members of YouTube should be banned from the site. If they are so pro Taliban why don't they join them and get them self's killed.

How many wounded in Afghanistan

May 23, 2012

More U.S. troops lost limbs in 2011 than in any previous year of fighting since the 9/11 attacks, recently published Pentagon data shows.

The grisly toll, 240 cases of deployed troops with at least one arm or leg amputated, appears to mainly reflect the ongoing troop surge in Afghanistan, along with an increased emphasis on foot patrols in areas where insurgents are active.

Amputation cases were up from 196 in 2010 and exceeded the previous high of 205 during the 2007 Iraq surge, according to f...

Kamikaze drone marines say its like a remote controlled grenade

May 21, 2012

The Marine Corps is taking steps to procure its first “kamikaze” drone in an effort to provide small units the ability to quickly strike soft targets such as IED emplacement teams.

The Switchblade, produced by California-based AeroVironment, can be guided into a target and explode on impact, almost like a hand grenade, said company spokesman Steven Gitlin.

“For the first time they will have their own organic ability to engage targets [with a UAV],” he said.

Units that identify potential ...
